Even better, there's a bar!

The 1926 Paramount Building initially housed Paramount Studios, and CityPickle is leaning into that showbiz legacy, preserving exposed brick, concrete and the building’s rare column-free construction while adding dark green tones, leather, felt and rift-cut oak, thanks to Sentient Design Works and Tectonic Builders
The result is less of a rec center and more of a members’ club. Beyond the seven courts, the year-round space includes lounge and event areas, co-working phone booths, private shower suites stocked with products from Brooklyn-based Element Brooklyn and a robust food and beverage program led by hospitality vet Kim Russen, whose résumé includes TAO Group.
It’s CityPickle’s first permanent Manhattan home and serves as the brand’s corporate headquarters, with glass-enclosed offices built directly into the floor plan. The layout is designed to flex between tournaments, casual open play, private events and corporate leagues. The sport has been the fastest-growing in the country for five consecutive years, and with this centrally located home base, it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The 37,000-Square-Foot Flagship Debuts Seven Professional Courts, Elevated Dining, and Exclusive Memberships in the Heart of Broadway
Matthew Kennedy
Beyond the courts, the Times Square flagship was conceived as a layered hospitality environment. Guests will find a full-service bar and restaurant, lounge areas, dedicated event spaces, co-working phone booths, and private shower suites stocked with premium toiletries.
The food and beverage program is overseen by COO Kim Russen, whose background includes leadership roles at TAO Group. Her vision positions dining and cocktails as central to the experience, not an afterthought.
CityPickle’s design team approached the historic Paramount Building with careful restraint. Working alongside Sentient Design Works, the project preserves key architectural elements of the former Paramount Theatre, including the rare column-free construction, exposed brick, and concrete finishes.
The Times Square debut arrives during a period of rapid growth for the brand. CityPickle recently secured a 20-year agreement to operate Wollman Rink year-round in partnership with Related Companies and is preparing to launch its Brooklyn Bridge outpost later this spring.
“Times Square represents a major step forward for CityPickle’s growth with over 2,470 court hours offered per week,” she said. “From Wollman Rink and Long Island City to Times Square and soon Brooklyn Bridge, we’re building destinations that bring people together on and off the court.”

CityPickle, a pickleball venue operator, is opening a 37,000‑square‑foot flagship location Friday on the eighth floor of the historic Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway, between West 43rd and 44th streets, the company said Wednesday in a statement. The space is billed as New York’s largest pickleball club and marks CityPickle’s first year‑round location in Manhattan.
The venue will also serve as CityPickle’s corporate headquarters and features 18‑foot ceilings, seven professional‑grade pickleball courts, a full‑service bar and restaurant, and event spaces, according to the company. Amenities including coworking phone booths and private shower suites.

The Times Square opening comes 60 years after the famed Paramount Theatre, which hosted performers including Frank Sinatra, closed at the space in 1966. It also comes as pickleball has remains a wildly popular sport, CityPickle said. Nearly 20 million people played pickleball in the United States in 2024, representing more than 300% growth over three years, according to Pickleheads.com, citing data from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association.
“Finding a venue in Manhattan that can accommodate this scale and flexibility is exceptionally uncommon,” said Martin Cottingham, a principal at Avison Young, which represented CityPickle in the lease. “Paired with the prominence and foot traffic of a landmark Times Square address, the Paramount Building offers CityPickle an unparalleled platform to establish its flagship and introduce the sport to an entirely new audience.”

TIMES SQUARE CHRONICLES

Times Square has seen it all — movie stars, marquee lights, midnight premieres, and now… pickleball.
Yes, that pickleball.
On February 20, CityPickle officially takes over one of Midtown’s most storied addresses, opening a sprawling 37,000-square-foot flagship inside the landmark Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway. The same building that once housed Paramount Studios — where Hollywood dreams were cut, spliced, and sent into the world — is now welcoming a different kind of star power: seven professional-grade pickleball courts, a full-service bar and restaurant, and enough luxe touches to make this feel more private club than rec center.
Think less gym class, more greenroom.
CityPickle leaned into the building’s showbiz bones, preserving exposed brick, concrete, and the Paramount’s rare column-free construction, while layering in dark green tones, leather, felt, and rift-cut oak. Designed by Sentient Design Works and built by Tectonic Builders, the space feels cinematic — as if pickleball itself just got a wardrobe upgrade.
…
And the amenities? They’re not playing around.
Beyond the courts, there are lounge and event spaces, sleek co-working phone booths, private shower suites stocked with Brooklyn-based Element Brooklyn products, and a serious food and beverage program overseen by hospitality veteran Kim Russen, whose résumé includes TAO Group. Translation: you can sweat, sip, and socialize without ever leaving the floor.
…
Pickleball may be the fastest-growing sport in the country for the fifth year running, but this move makes one thing clear: it’s no longer just a trend — it’s a lifestyle. And in Times Square, of all places, it’s officially ready for its close-up.
Lights. Camera. Paddle.
